On 1st January 2006 Phytowelt GmbH and GreenTec GmbH merged to form Phytowelt GreenTechnologies GmbH
Phytowelt GreenTechnologies was founded in January 2006 as a merger of Phytowelt GmbH and GreenTec GmbH, a spin off company of the Max Planck institute of plant breeding research in Cologne.
The Head office is located at Nettetal, the Research and Development facilities remain on the premises of the Max Planck Institute for plant breeding research. The shareholders are Dr. Peter Welters, CEO of Phytowelt GreenTechnologies, and the directors and leading scientists of the Max Planck Institute for plant breeding research
Dr. Peter Welters stated the reason for the merger “is the tight interaction of both companies during the last 3 years, which showed a good complementation of one another in their services in the range of green biotechnology” and he assumes that the merger of the companies will even provide new jobs.
Another core competency is in knowledge transfer. The company provides technology studies and scientific consultancy; assists its clients in finding appropriate partners for their projects and offers, as an external partner, services in project coordination as well as in the organisation of congresses and exhibitions in the range of plant biotechnology.
